The case of Civilization

Civilization has been since its release in 1991 a very popular game, evaluated as “the first bold attempt to simulate the whole of human history in computer software”. Civilization is a game that has attracted much attention by game scholars, and it has been debated since its introduction. In this video I am trying to decode the cultural principles the game is based on, referring at the same time to some points of historical and cultural criticism on the game already expressed by game scholars and students of culture.
