Gender in historical studies

“History is composed by the victors”, they say. By male victors, we may add, and about male victors and losers. In a competition on the most ignored “other” in history and historiography, it would be easy to identify women as the prize winner.

Feminism changed the way we conceive the social position and role of women and appreciate their social and cultural contribution. It also changed the way women are treated by historians. During the last decades, women have become one of the most studied historical objects. This video is a short invitation to a reflection on gender as a historical lens.
