The study of games and gaming can contribute only to some extend to the study of what is usually called history of “high politics”, that is the historical study of political regimes, policy-making and execution of policies. But politics are not limited to that. There is another side of politics, of equal importance, that is related to the interaction between political power and the societies at question. It is this interaction, what has been coined as “politics from below” or “low politics”, may be better illuminated and analysed by using games as historical sources.
